Science PSQM

In September 2020, we were awarded the PSQM Gilt Award. The Primary Science Quality Mark is given in recognition to schools who demonstrate how established effective leadership of science is having a sustained impact on science teaching and learning across the school.
The programme ensures effective leadership of science, enables schools to work together to share good practice and is supported by professional development led by local experts. It encourages teacher autonomy and innovation while at the same time offering a clear framework for development in science subject leadership, teaching and learning. Schools that achieve PSQM demonstrate commitment and expertise in science leadership, teaching and learning.
As part of the process, Mr Whelan and the learning council produced a set of learning principles for the teaching and learning of science at Hare Street. They spoke to children, staff, parents and governors to get a picture of what they wanted to see in science lessons and to find out what contributed to effective learning in science.
We are beginning the reaccreditation process this year and the set of learning principles that we created last time around are still vitally important. There will continue to be lots of science based activities that parents can get involved in. Look out for more information this term about Science Week in March 2024
